The Next Step

So, it's been a week since I started writing about my research journey and what a week it's been. I'm still no closer to discovering that elusive magic to make my book suddenly sell, but I feel that I'm a step closer.

I've sat through about 3 webinars this past week - one about the changes to IG and Facebook (P.S. it's old news for most of it and doesn't affect most fiction writers); one was a sneak peak about another webinar I'm signed up for about Facebook ads (This one was very informative about how to avoid the Facebook Ad Ban Hammer); and one about my other hobby, graphic design. The last was so helpful I actually bought the program and now I'm on another parallel journey to get a Graphic Arts Certificate. Hopeful this journey will help with my book covers. Yes, it's also putting thoughts into my head about maybe doing a publishing type e-company for book covers... who knows? I'll keep you updated.

So in the mean while, I sit here learning stuff - because I'm good at that. I read (and watch) stuff. Oh no, brain overload... too much information. Time for a nice quiet book to help me unwind. Will I go outside today? I don't know. There's lots of scary stuff happening. I'm starting to think 2020 is just a group of writers throwing out ideas - storyboarding. Although I'm still wondering what happened to the murder hornets.

"We should start with a pandemic"

"Oh, yeah. But one that no one could possibly see coming"

"Except for a dentist from some tiny little town in the middle of nowhere."

"No, I don't like that idea. Make the town ground zero for the virus"

"Yeah... and lets make it incurable."

"But have various PRX companies race to come up with one."

"What ever, this is starting to get boring."

"You're just pouting because no one liked your idea."

"Am not."

"Enough, we have a story to write."

"What if we put everyone in lock down because no one knows how the virus spreads?"

"That's been done before, remember 1918?"

"But, now hear me out... we have people boycotting their homes?"

"What?"

"I mean protesting to go back to work?"

"That's stupid, no one would ever...never mind."

"Then let's unleash the Murder Hornets?"

"What?"

"Yeah... send in the bugs. I want Locusts, too!"

"Wait, come on guys, no."

"Yes! and when things start to settle down, let's throw a social problem into the mix!"

"Guys!?"

"What kind of social problem?"

"I don't know. There's too many to chose from. We'll come back to that."

"And in the midst of that, how about a hurricane?"

"Guys, this is too unreal."

"Fine, just a tropical storm, then."

"Yeah, one that re-strengthens just before it hits the US coastline."

Shakes head in disbelief: "I'm not putting my name on this disaster called 2020."
